The first Community Dinner of the school year kicked off last Tuesday with much fanfare and glorious cuisine. Open to the entire SMS community (just please be sure to sign up so that our wonderful kitchen staff have an accurate count), the Upper School remains one of the finest dining establishments in town. And, of course, we’re fortunate that our size and appeal to personal good graces attracts outstanding and personable chefs who have the resources to be creative in their art and wonderfully interactive within the community. This year, Chefs Dan, Ruben, and Jeremiah produced the sumptuous menu noted above, which surpassed all expectations in presentation and taste. Per tradition, the Prefects likewise offered a quote for our general consideration and a few polite suggestions on decorum, including the proper angle at which to leave one’s silverware on one’s plate to indicate to the server that one has finished one’s meal (either at 45 degrees or vertical to the bottom). Likewise, Head Chef Dan gave us an introduction to the menu, to which those in attendance responded with resounding applause before commencing our gourmandizing and discourse. The event was delicious, indeed.

If you’re interested in attending Community Dinner, they generally occur on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Attire is ‘Steamboat Formal’ (which, although open to interpretation, usually involves sundresses, shirts tucked in, and the occasional jacket and/or tie). Please contact Matt Thomas in advance.
