Sour Patch Watermelons and 14,000' Peaks!

Last weekend we embarked on a late Fall 14er trip to Mt. Belford in the Collegiate Peaks area. We were not disappointed as we hiked among vibrant yellow leaves and snow-capped peaks. While it was a windy, snowy, chilly affair, we sincerely enjoyed the stunning views and the swirling clouds creating shadows on the landscape. The students persevered admirably through freezing toes, steep climbs, and little sleep. Countless sour patch watermelons and other gummy snacks were consumed in order to propel us to the top. We successfully summited Mt.Belford Peak at 14,203ft and more importantly had a wonderful time frolicking in the outdoors and appreciating the life we get to live in Colorado and as members of the SMS community!
