Upper School Math Teacher

We are seeking an outstanding full time Upper School Math teacher to join our team of faculty beginning in August of 2024. Steamboat Mountain School’s math classes afford students the opportunity to build quantitative reasoning skills, critical thinking, numerical confidence, and resilience in problem solving, both through the conceptualization of data and its real world applications. SMS math teachers focus not only on skill-building and conceptual understanding, but they also create opportunities to use mathematics in exploring real world phenomena. The mathematics department embraces a spiraled and recursive approach to learning, where, through our integrated math sequence, concepts are revisited with greater detail and complexity.

Upper School Spanish Teacher

We are seeking a skilled full time Upper School Spanish teacher to join our team of faculty members beginning in August of 2024.  Steamboat Mountain School’s Spanish classes afford students active learning opportunities to engage with the language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is expected that the classes be taught almost entirely in the target language if not entirely in the target language. The goal of the program is to foster confident, empathetic, and global learners who strive to engage genuinely with other people and the Spanish language.

Teacher-In-Residence

The SMS Teacher-In-Residence is an experiential program meant for early career teachers and recent college graduates who are interested in working at independent schools. Teachers in Residence both learn and teach in our academic, outdoor, and boarding programs. Each teacher is paired with an expert mentor, instructs in our outdoor programming, and works with the boarding students on campus. The SMS Teacher-In-Residence program lasts for 10 months, and includes a room in the faculty dorm and many meals served in the US dining hall based on the US daily schedule.

US Dean of Students

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative full-time Upper School Dean of Students for the 2024-25 school year. The US Dean of Students will report to the Head of School and work with administrators, faculty, and staff to build community, sustain the school’s ethical culture, and support student well-being and growth. The Dean of Students oversees community expectations, student life, student discipline, residential life, and student activities.  This position is expected to live on the upper school campus.
