Emily is a Colorado native and a mountain girl at heart. She grew up in Fort Collins and Longmont and then spent many years in Boulder at the University of Colorado. Emily received a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Both degrees focused on water and wastewater treatment in developing communities. In college, she played rugby, studied abroad in England, and lived for a semester in Panama building pedestrian footbridges in rural villages. After completing her master’s degree, Emily moved to London, England to work for an engineering firm called Ove Arup and Partners. There she focused on water and fire system design, as well as sustainability projects and assessments. After a few years living abroad, Emily heard the call of the mountains and of family and decided to move back to Colorado to begin working for her dream school, aka Steamboat Mountain School. Her passions include anything outdoors (frolicking up a mountain, paddling a canoe, gliding through the trees on a snowboard); traveling to be in awe of the worlds diversity while also searching for our common humanity; and the ever-entertaining and inspiring activity of getting to know people for who they really are in order to love them better. Emily has been enjoying her time at Steamboat Mountain School so far, engaging and adventuring with the students, and making the glorious town of Steamboat Spring home.
