Grand Opening Today!  I am excited to share that Samantha and Andy came down to host the grand opening to our new school building today.  All students got to come in for a tour and a treat.  Starting today and continuing throughout the week, we will begin rolling out our classes and music lessons in our new space.

Mary Anne will be teaching music for Grades 3-8 in our downstairs music space.  When she is teaching, she will be able to spread out across the entire ground floor.  Private lessons will also take place in the new building.  It is great to have a dedicated space for our strings program after all these years.  The youngest students will continue to have their music lessons in their own classrooms to minimize transitions and confusion.

Dave will also be downstairs.  He will be teaching Grades 3-5 math in their own classroom.  While they now have their own dedicated math space, Dave and Jen will continue to collaborate on lessons and units and use the Grade 3 & 4 classroom to co-teach at times.

Upstairs, Willow will be teaching Grades 6-8 English and social studies.  Andrea will teach Grades 5-8 Spanish and 5th grade social studies.  The middle school team will also periodically meet in the downstairs space.  While this new building is available for all, it is of particular importance to our middle schoolers to have a dedicated building that they can call their home.

Many people came together to help us to open this new building.  Students, families, faculty, and staff have all offered their time and support to getting this building off the ground.  For now, we will just call it the new building, but if you have ideas for what to call our latest addition, your ideas are welcome.

If you’d like to come visit, Samantha is hosting a coffee in the fellowship hall and a tour of the new building in the morning at 8 am tomorrow.  We will certainly be hosting more parent events there in the future, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming opportunities.
