Long Term Substitute Lower School Humanities with potential full-time employment 2026–27

Steamboat Mountain School seeks a long-term substitute Lower School Humanities Teacher to join our Lower School team, with the potential for full-time employment beginning in the 2026–27 school year. Working closely with other members of the grade-level team, this educator will design curriculum and create a classroom environment in which each student feels like an integral part of the school community. The teacher will implement phonics programming, writing workshops, and literacy interventions and enrichments, while also communicating regularly and proactively with students, families, and colleagues. In addition to teaching, the educator will contribute positively to the overall school culture, fulfill duties such as recess and lunch supervision, and serve on school committees as requested or desired.Our teaching faculty engage students in active, inquiry-based learning, fostering confident, empathetic, and global learners who engage genuinely with others. We are looking for an educator who values student-centered teaching, differentiated instruction, and project-based approaches.

Job Description

Lower School Humanities Teacher

We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Lower School Humanities Teacher for the 26-27 school year. This position will directly report to the Head of Lower & Middle School and will be responsible for developing curriculum, designing lessons, and engaging students in high-quality learning. Candidates should be familiar with differentiated instruction so that each child has the opportunity to do work that is appropriately challenging. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience teaching to elementary or middle school-aged students.
