970-879-1350 ext. 127
Matt has had a robust career in education prior to arriving at Steamboat Mountain School, most recently working at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, NC. He holds an MA in Early American History from the College of William & Mary and a BA in International Studies from American University. Before serving as the Junior Class Dean and Social Studies Teacher at Ravenscroft, Matt taught at Columbus Academy and the Kirby Hall School. As Dean of Students at Steamboat Mountain School, Matt looks forward to leading DEIB initiatives, supporting student affinity groups, and building strong relationships with students and their families. He aims to bring his experience with student leadership opportunities and community collaboration to support Steamboat Mountain School’s mission.
Matt was raised on a small farm at the base of the Peaks of Otter in Virginia but fell in love with the Rocky Mountains as a teenager when he and his father started their annual summer backpacking trips out West. In his free time, Matt enjoys all types of outdoor activities, including backpacking, cycling, and skiing – although having grown up skiing mostly in West Virginia, he’s more comfortable on ice than powder. He loves hiking the local trails with his dog Deano and watching his favorite F1 racer Sergio Perez underperform on Sunday mornings.
