Cass Madden was born and raised in Colorado and was previously based in Cusco, Peru, working with Asociación ANDES and the International Network of Mountain Indigenous Peoples since May 2019. In her role, she developed innovative projects aimed at upscaling landscape management models in collaboration with indigenous communities. She also provided training in climate change, conservation, and nutrition, empowering community members, particularly women, through product development and administrative skills. Cass’ expertise extends to the classroom where she lectured on research methods and ethics and acted as the program coordinator at SIT Study Abroad Peru. Before her time in Peru, she worked at Tufts University in the Alumni Relations office and prior to that taught Spanish and ESL. Cass’ holds a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Global Sustainability from SIT Graduate Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Anthropology from Tufts University. Cass fell in love with rock climbing and mountaineering in the Andes and grew up hiking and camping. In her role at the Steamboat Mountain School as an upper school Spanish teacher, Cass is looking forward to sharing her passions for language, cultures, and exploration with students and colleagues.
