Andrea was born and raised as a 5th generation cattle rancher in Cora, Wyoming. In 2011, she headed east to attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. While she did not fall in love with lobster in Maine, she did fall in love with exploring the northeast between earning a double BA in History and Spanish and a minor in teaching. Andrea spent one semester abroad in Mendoza, Argentina, further cementing her love for the Spanish language and culture. After graduating in 2015, she headed south to Ecuador to complete a 10-month stint as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, where she taught English in a university in the coastal region and in a small indigenous school in the highlands. Andrea returned to her family’s ranch for a few months and worked as an ELL teacher in her childhood schools in Pinedale, Wyoming before heading east once again to complete her student teaching as part of the Bowdoin Teacher Scholars Program. With a dual certification in Social Studies and Spanish in hand and the world as her oyster, Andrea decided her next adventure was to live in a city. She spent 4 years in Boston, Massachusetts teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at Codman Academy Charter Public School. She also ran Outdoor Leadership Club, finding ways to get her Boston urban youth into the outdoors as much as possible. When not exploring the city, Andrea could be found hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, nordic skiing, or hanging out with her pandemic puppy, Cora. After nearly a decade spent away from the Rocky Mountains, Andrea finally came to her senses and decided to return closer to home. She is thrilled to have ended up at Steamboat Mountain School, where she can combine all her interests in teaching social science, Spanish, and exploring the outdoors with youth.
