Nate joins the Steamboat Mountain School faculty with a diverse background as both an educator and an applied research scientist. Over the past six years at Heritage Hall in Oklahoma City, he designed and implemented curricula for Physics (Conceptual through AP), Earth Science, and Engineering. His teaching is deeply informed by 26 years of experience in water resources research and management, including roles as a Senior Research Scientist and Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Labs. Beyond the classroom, Nate is an avid outdoorsman and coach. He has served as a faculty leader for wilderness trips and has skippered student sailing excursions in the Caribbean. His coaching experience spans several endurance sports, including serving as a certified US Masters Swimming Coach and an assistant crew coach at the University of Georgia. Nate holds an MS in Hydrogeology from the University of Georgia and a BS in Geology from Tufts University. Nate will teach chemistry, physics, and engineering at the upper school.
