Why SMS?
“Having been involved with the school my whole life, I serve because I believe k-12 education is of the utmost importance, and serving gives me the ability to play a role in my children’s education. It is also important to me to help ensure the long-term security of the school.”

Background
Johnny was born and raised in Steamboat Springs and was a successful Nordic Combined skier competing in the 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010 Olympic Games. In 2010, Johnny won 3 Silver medals in the Vancouver Olympics. Johnny was a member of the first graduating class at the Emerald Mountain School K-8 program and graduated from the Steamboat Mountain School in 1999. Post-skiing career, Johnny entered the fly fishing retail industry and owns and operates retail stores in Colorado and Utah. Johnny joined the board in 2018 and has three children enrolled at SMS.
